I have bought a pack of Ni MH 1300mAh Rechargeable AA batteries from a respectable brand. They take just over 8 hours to charge. The camera in question is the Fujifilm finepix S8100fd.

Depending on the mode of operation (flash, zoom, etc.)
will be a major factor on battery life. The unit should
operate at least 6 hours on a full charge. If you plan to
operate sad unit longer, it is always a good idea to have
an extra fully charged battery pack handy so your cam
will operate without any issues.

When next buying rechargeable batteries go for as high a mAh capacity as possible, they will give longer operating times and need fewer in-between charges.
I use 2700mAh types. They may give several hundred charge-discharge cycles so certainly cost effective.

you can buy 2500ma Ni MH that charge a lot faster than this in a Lidel charger, what you quote is in the realms of Ni cads!
